About Dorottya Podmaniczky
Dorottya is renowned for infusing abstract concepts into her aerial movement, pushing boundaries with unconventional body expressions. Through her emphasis on character development and a blend of aerial and ground-based techniques, including soft, organic floor work, she shares her expertise globally through teaching aerial hoop courses and workshops like “Lyra Flow.”
Hailing from Budapest, Hungary, she is a contemporary dancer, teacher, and aerialist with degrees from Eötvös Lorand University Faculty of Humanities and the Budapest Circus Art and Contemporary Dance Collage. Continuously honing her skills through domestic and international training, she has been working for the Firebirds Company since 2014. Co-founding the Psycle Of Movement Imagination collective in 2015, she collaborates with her partner to create performances blending contemporary dance, martial arts, and aerial dance, notably presenting “Mitosis” in China and Egypt. Additionally, she co-founded the One Thousand Faces aerial collective, premiering “Terra” in 2021 and touring Europe thereafter.
In 2023, she participated in the international “Together Circus Invitation,” a site-specific performance series directed by Albin Warette, performing in Greece and Hungary.
Known for her innovative approach, she infuses her aerial movement with abstract concepts and explores unconventional body expressions. Emphasizing character development through physicality, she finds significance in both aerial and ground-based movement, including soft, organic floor work.
Currently, she shares her expertise globally through teaching aerial hoop courses and creative workshops like “Lyra Flow,” while contributing to collaborative projects such as “Circus Caravana” with Visegrad 4 countries.
